In a major intelligence-based operation near Rahmani Khel Mor in Mianwali, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) engaged in a fierce exchange of fire with a group of Khawarij, resulting in the elimination of three militants while six others managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched on credible intelligence regarding the presence of Khawarij planning a major attack on police check-posts. As CTD teams approached the hideout, they came under heavy fire, prompting a swift and strategic response. During the encounter, three Khawarij were neutralized—reportedly killed by their own associates’ gunfire in the confusion of the clash.
The spokesperson further revealed that significant arms and explosives were recovered from the site, including rifles, three hand grenades, ammunition, and other explosive materials. A search operation is currently underway to track down and apprehend the six Khawarij who fled the scene.
CTD units have established a cordon around the Rahmani Khel Mor area, and efforts to identify the slain militants are ongoing. The spokesperson noted that the Khawarij were in the final stages of planning a large-scale attack on law enforcement installations, underscoring the significance of the preemptive action.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating militancy and ensuring the safety and security of the public, vowing to bring all perpetrators and their facilitators to justice.
