Indian Army Endorses Open-Ended Ceasefire as Pakistan Sets Stage for Fresh DGMO Talks

in a major development that underscores Pakistan’s principled position on regional peace, the Indian Army has officially confirmed that the ceasefire agreement signed on May 12 has no expiry date—an affirmation widely seen as a diplomatic win for Islamabad.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Indian Army clarified that no DGMO-level communication had been scheduled for the day but made it clear that the ceasefire understanding between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries remains valid indefinitely.

“There is no expiration to the May 12 ceasefire agreement,” the Indian military declared, effectively quashing speculation about its duration amid heightened political rhetoric in India.

Sources confirmed that a fresh round of DGMO talks is expected on Tuesday to further consolidate the ceasefire and explore confidence-building measures. Despite provocative remarks from Indian political figures in recent days, the Indian military is reported to be signaling a willingness to uphold the truce—reflecting the effectiveness of Pakistan’s firm and consistent engagement.

Officials in Islamabad view the Indian Army’s reaffirmation as a direct outcome of Pakistan’s sustained commitment to peace and strategic stability in South Asia. The development not only revalidates Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts but also places the onus on New Delhi to match military assurances with political maturity.

As preparations for the next round of talks continue, Pakistan remains steadfast in its resolve to ensure the sanctity of the Line of Control and to pursue dialogue grounded in mutual respect and international norms.
