In a fierce exchange of fire on the night of 28–29 May, Pakistan Army thwarted an attack by Indian-sponsored khawarij in North Waziristan’s Shawal area, sending six khawarij to hell. The terrorists, affiliated with the Indian proxy outfit Fitna al-Khawarij, attempted to storm a security check post but were decisively repelled.
During the valiant defence, Lieutenant Daniyal Ismail (24, Mardan) embraced martyrdom while heroically leading his troops. He was joined in Shahadat by Naib Subedar Kashif Raza (42, Chakwal), Lance Naik Fiaqat Ali (35, Haripur), and Sepoy Muhammad Hameed (26, Abbottabad).
In a separate encounter in Chitral District, security forces neutralised another Indian-sponsored khariji, raising the total number of eliminated Khawarij to seven.
Sanitization operations are underway in both areas to hunt down any remaining elements. The Pakistan Armed Forces reaffirm their unyielding commitment to rooting out Indian-sponsored terrorism and honour the supreme sacrifices made by their brave men in uniform.
