The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday announced that the number of Khawarij eliminated during recent security operations in Balochistan’s Zhob district has risen to 47 over the past two days. According to the military’s media wing, security forces carried out successful intelligence-based operations in the Sambaza area of Zhob district on August 7 and 8, neutralising 33 Khawarij in intense engagements. The operations targeted hideouts in the rugged mountainous terrain, where the Khawarij were attempting to consolidate their presence.
In a follow-up action, during the night between August 8 and 9, security forces conducted a clearance operation in the vicinity of Sambaza, along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The ISPR said that this operation resulted in the elimination of an additional 14 “Indian-sponsored” Khawarij.
During these actions, security forces also recovered a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the slain Khawarij, averting their planned attacks against security personnel and civilians. “Security forces remain resolute in defending the country’s borders and in foiling all designs aimed at sabotaging the peace, stability, and progress of Pakistan,” the ISPR statement reaffirmed.
The latest operations form part of the ongoing intensified counter-Khawarij campaign in Balochistan, where cross-border infiltration attempts from Afghan territory have increased in recent months.
