Security forces neutralised at least 17 terrorists affiliated with the proscribed Mullah Nazir group during a large-scale intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the border region between Lakki Marwat and Karak districts, according to the military’s media wing.
In a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), it was confirmed that the operation was launched on the basis of actionable intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the remote and rugged area of Darsha Khel.
The two-day operation, conducted jointly by Pakistan Army units, Special Services Group (SSG), and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), began on September 26 and continued into September 27. Officials reported that 17 terrorists; identified as members of the Khawarij-linked Mullah Nazir group, were neutralised, while over 10 others were wounded.
Security sources stated that the terrorists had been regrouping in Darsha Khel, using the area’s difficult terrain as cover. The operation involved precision targeting of militant hideouts, and all identified compounds have been successfully cleared.
As the troops returned following the successful operation, local residents in the surrounding areas warmly welcomed the personnel and celebrated the mission’s success alongside them—marking a visible show of solidarity between the local population and security forces.
The military reiterated its resolve to continue targeting terrorist elements with full force, ensuring that no group is allowed to threaten peace and stability in the region.
