A 16-year-old girl tragically lost her life in the Kharsin area of Datta Khel, North Waziristan, after an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the India-backed militant group Fitnah al-Khawarij detonated on Wednesday.
According to local sources, the explosive device was intended to target security forces operating in the region. However, the young girl happened to be nearby at the time of the blast and was fatally injured. Her martyrdom has sparked fear and mourning in the local community.
This incident follows a similar tragedy just a day earlier, in which an 8-year-old girl was killed in another IED explosion. In a separate recent attack, militants from Fitnah al-Khawarij used a quad-copter to strike a residential home in Mir Ali, resulting in multiple civilian casualties.
Residents are increasingly alarmed by the surge in terrorist activity and have called on the government to take immediate and decisive action. They urge authorities to implement stronger security measures and launch a comprehensive crackdown against terrorist elements to protect innocent lives.
The region has seen an uptick in violence, with civilians, especially children, bearing the brunt of terrorist tactics designed to instil fear and disrupt peace.
