No Attack on Check-post: Abandoned Outpost Handed Over to Tribal Elders, Say Security Officials

Attack, Check-post, Tribal Elders

Khyber District: Security officials have dismissed claims of a militant attack on a check-post in the Tirah Valley, clarifying that the outpost was vacated months ago as part of a strategic policy shift and handed over to local tribal elders to support peace efforts in the region.

A video circulating on social media shows a group of armed men at a rundown check-post, fuelling speculation about a possible assault. However, authorities have confirmed that the post has long been non-operational and visibly dilapidated, underscoring its abandonment.

Speaking to media, security sources emphasised that the objective behind such videos is to spread misinformation and create confusion. They added that the visuals are being reviewed for further verification.

The militant group featured in the video claimed that security forces had retreated from the area due to sniper attacks—an assertion that officials strongly refute, labeling it part of a deliberate disinformation campaign.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and reaffirm their commitment to maintaining stability in the region.
