In a bold and heroic act of self-defence, owners of a local brick kiln near Bharat Chowk on CPEC Road thwarted an alleged extortion attempt by khwarij (TTP) operatives. The dramatic late-night confrontation left one khariji dead and another captured alive with his weapon.
According to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Two armed men identified as Latif, son of Mir Abbas Khan, and Rehan, son of Nekam Khan, both residents of Sarai Gambila, District Lakki Marwat, stormed into the Amirullah Brick Kiln, reportedly demanding extortion money. The same individuals had allegedly issued threats to the kiln owners just the night before.
Returning with firearms and riding a motorcycle, the suspects appeared to be acting on behalf of a broader terrorist network engaged in systematic intimidation of local businesses. However, the kiln owners, refusing to be cowed by terror tactics, responded with immediate defensive firepower. In the exchange, Latif was fatally shot, while his accomplice Rehan, armed with a Kalashnikov, was overpowered and captured alive.
Security sources suspect the duo’s links with Fitna al-khawarij’s extortion racket operating across southern KP. The captured suspect has been handed over to law enforcement for interrogation, which officials believe may yield crucial intelligence on local terrorist cells.
The body of the deceased khariji has been shifted to DHQ Hospital for postmortem, while the injured detainee is under medical care and heavy police custody.
This incident marks a rare but resolute stand by local citizens against Khawarij coercion, as communities in KP continue to face threats from Fitna al-Khawarij-linked factions attempting to reassert their influence through fear and force.
