A wave of disinformation swept Indian social media of late after several propaganda accounts falsely claimed the capture of a Pakistani Ranger. In an apparent bid to stir tensions, one account shared an AI-generated image to support the claim, while another posted an unrelated photograph of an individual in uniform.
Despite the viral nature of the posts, India’s Border Security Force (BSF) has not confirmed any such incident or capture of a Pakistani soldier along the border. No official statement or evidence has been provided to validate the claims.
Analysts believe the propaganda is part of a broader narrative campaign aimed at inflaming public sentiment amid heightened regional tensions.
