Recent social media reports claiming that a new ISIS (Daesh) center has been established in the Tirah area of Khyber under the leadership of Hafiz Zubair Muwahid have been confirmed as entirely false. Security sources and experts have dismissed these claims as baseless propaganda aimed at spreading fear and misinformation.
According to officials, the so-called reports are being circulated by groups with vested interests, relying primarily on AI-generated images and fabricated narratives to malign Pakistan and destabilize public perception. Authorities have labeled these campaigns as part of a coordinated effort by GDI-backed Kharijite elements, whose sole objective is the dissemination of venomous and misleading content against the country.
Analysts warn that such disinformation exploits the global perception of militant networks, falsely linking Hafiz Zubair Muwahid to ISIS activities in Tirah. “The whole world is aware of various militancy networks, ranging from Al-Qaeda and TTP to ISKP, ETIM, and TIP, operating in and around Afghanistan.
Experts emphasized that militant organizations have historically been trained and sheltered in Afghanistan, with some operatives sent across borders for specific agendas. However, no evidence links Pakistan or any local leadership to the establishment of a new ISIS center in Tirah. The authorities have reiterated that these reports are deliberate attempts to create panic, extract political or financial leverage, and malign Pakistan’s image globally.
The district administration and security agencies are monitoring online platforms closely and have urged the public and media outlets to verify facts before sharing unconfirmed reports. They stressed that spreading fabricated narratives not only undermines national security but also jeopardizes community cohesion and public trust.
The authorities concluded by warning that any attempts to propagate false information, especially regarding militancy or toerrrism, will be met with strict legal action under existing cybercrime and anti-terrorism laws. Citizens are encouraged to rely only on official channels for verified information regarding security and law enforcement operations.
