Islamabad: A viral social media rumour claiming a drone crashed near Islamabad’s iconic Faisal Mosque has been officially debunked by the local administration and police.

Responding swiftly to the reports, district authorities and law enforcement reached the site but found no evidence of any drone crash or related incident. The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, Irfan Memon, clarified that no drone has fallen anywhere in the capital city.

“There has been no drone crash or attack near Faisal Mosque. This is entirely false and baseless news. Citizens are advised not to pay attention to such rumours,” said DC Memon in a public statement.

Sources revealed that the circulating video linked to the claim is outdated. It reportedly shows a fire near the mosque from a previous, unrelated incident — an event witnessed by several individuals at the time.

Authorities have urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified content and spreading misinformation. “Please verify any news or videos before believing or forwarding them,” officials emphasized.
